I AM Poem

I AM

I am 8 years old

I wonder what my presents are for Christmas

I hear the TV

I see the TV

I want to see the TV

I am a boy

I pretend I am crazy

I feel happy

I touch my eye

I am short

I understand everything

I dream anything

I try everything

I say anything

I hope I have no school tomorrow

I am tired

Christmas is the best holiday!

Yesterday there was a Christmas party at our grandma's house. I got a bug vaccum, a book about insects and spiders, and a game called Hyper Dash. We had tamales, rice and beans. I didn't like the beans so I just ate the tamales and rice. I ate 5 1/2 tamales! For a snack we had pineapple cubes, blackberries and chips. I love Christmas!

EWWW! Animal Body Parts!

Lions will eat almost anything. Lions eat gazelle, antelope, buffalo, giraffe and any other animal smaller than them. The buffalo and giraffe are bigger than the lion, but when they eat these animals they usually hunt in groups of 2 or 3 lions. Mostly the lions eat gazelle or antelope because they're easier to catch. Sometimes lions eat bugs on purpose because its food has been laying around and bugs get on it. Hopefully the lion will find something good to eat!

I Can't Go To Sleep Here!

There are a lot of decorations in the house. There is a big tree that is filled with lots of lights and ornaments. Our front yard and our tree have Christmas lights all over it. There are legions and jillions of lights on the trampoline. These legions and jillions of lights look like icicles going up and down and flashing red, blue, purple, green and white. We can’t really go to sleep with all these decorations.

  • It has craters all over it because big asteroids run into it. When asteroids hit the earth, since there is atmosphere, it goes so fast that it burns up. When asteroids hit the moon, since there is no atmosphere, it doesn't burn up.

The moon does everything. When you're at the beach the moon makes high tides or low tides

The moon is made of rocks and dust and more dust.

In the day time if you're at the moon, it will be 260 degrees Fahrenheit. If you're at the moon at night it will be negative 260 degrees Fahrenheit.

Money, Money, Money!

Money has changed a lot. There are lots of different kinds of ways to buy things. Before we had cash we traded things, then we came up with gold coins, and then paper money.

Before they had money, people used to trade things. People who had cows traded with people that had grain because the people with cows didn't have any grain. They stopped trading because they figured out that they can just buy things.

At markets they allowed people to trade gold coins for food and stuff. Then they had a brilliant idea! They marked the weights of the gold coins and that's how much it was worth. They put prices on stuff and then bought them.

Finally, they switched to cash. People were getting annoyed because the line took so long to pay with coins. Paper money is faster, easier and it wasn't as heavy. Our system is working out fine for now, I think.

Hurricanes

I was just studying hurricanes and when I saw this picture I thought it was huge! In the middle of the hurricane, nothing is happening. The middle is called the eye. Hurricanes happen when two winds run into each other and swirl around. If it is over warm water the hurricane picks it up and it swirls around even faster.
I didn't know that hurricanes were this big. Everything I just wrote, I just learned!

Book Journal - Day 2

On their way home, Cam and Eric saw a kitten stuck in a tree. Cam saved the kitten by putting half of her tuna sandwich from lunch on the lower part of the branch. After the kitten ate, she picked him up and set him down. She heard the kitten crying again and she was in the tree again! This time she only had bread. She put the bread on the branch and she put the kitten in her pocket. After that, a bunch of lights appeared in the sky. Cam couldn't find out what it was so she asked a lady if she could use her binoculars. There were eight lights moving around and then, after a few minutes, they were hidden behind a cloud.

I think that was crazy for lights to move around in the sky. I think the lights could be a helicopter, an airplane, who knows. The kitten sounded fun, but I wouldn't do it. I wouldn't want it to scratch me and I'm allergic. I would just leave the kitten there and call the pound or something.

The Perfect Day of School

On a perfect day of school I would get everything right. I would get an A+ in Math, Spelling, and Language. In my perfect Science class, I would make a baking soda volcano. The volcano would erupt and everybody would stare at it. That was the day I graduated to 4th grade.
